I feel obliged to apologize for this answer - I know no one will enjoy this one.

When my mother had my brother, she went to a group that supported parents with autistic children. The parents were told a story about a woman who decided to go on vacation to Florida, but wound up stuck in Alaska instead.

The woman wasn't expecting it, and certainly wasn't thrilled at first... But though it wasn't what she originally wanted, she wound up having an amazing time, and loved her vacation there.

...Adrian's mother wasn't quite up to the task of enjoying her "Alaska vacation".
