Senior year of high school, we watched a documentary on veterans. One gentleman, suffering from PTSD, took to the woods. Coping found him baying to the sky, finding catharsis in the sound, in sending it away from himself - peace in the chest shaking reverberations, the silence it created around him, the release that could not be sought in words.

This is why depression, sorrow, melancholy, makes me think of wolves: not because I find them or their calls as such, but that I am reminded of this man taking from them, shouting pleas of hope to the air - "Please, give me peace," and finding at times, it worked.
