Mural of the Spaniards and Caribs by Red Dragonette

Mural of the Spaniards and Caribs

Red Dragonette

This was over at the clay section (I think) of Gumbalimba Park's museum. I didn't get all of the exhibits, so you'll have to see the rest yourself at the Gumbalimba Park in Roatán, Honduras. Anyway, I'm going to write down what I remember the tour guide said about this particular history. My memory might not be perfect, so please be patient. Now the tour guide said that when the Spaniards first came to the Caribbean, the natives thought that they were gods and Christopher Columbus took advantage of them and made slaves out of them. This mural I think depicts the Spaniards converting the natives, even if by force, to Christianity.
