Foxtail Palm by Red Dragonette

Foxtail Palm

Red Dragonette

One of the plants grown at Romney Manor. This tree is actually a native to Australia and not the Caribbean

The Foxtail Palm is quite fascinating to those seeing it for the first time. The fruit is a pretty red/orange when ripe and falls off when mature. The fruit is edible but not eaten locally, except by the monkeys! The nut/seed which is on the inside of the fleshy outer covering, is poisonous if ingested. If you look under the trees, you'll see growing, little palms which were germinated from fallen seeds."
