adoptable species maybe??

jumping on the species bandwagon bc i really wanna visit my bf ;v; so here's some flower.. lizards. flizzards? idk. might change the name later!

these are NOT an open species, sorry!

flizzards are plant-based lifeforms which base their appearance on the flora and reptilians in their environment, so they can be VERY different depending on where they live! this ref is just to show the features that remain constant.

1
generic example of a flizzard. they have tough, waxy skin which is capable of photosynthesis as an extra energy source, crested skulls, and most have flower-tipped tails. they're very small, about 30cm tall, social, and tend to rest in trees for safety, making nest-like hammocks out of branches.

2
their main diet is insects, and they have a long, prehensile tongue coated in sticky acid. the only exception to their diet is honeybees, as they covet the taste of honey to the extent of an addiction. strictly speaking, flizzards have no teeth - they're protrusions of the skull. some can have tusks, and some have none at all.

3
the skeleton of the flizzard is made of flexible wood, and their tendons are stringy fibres. they have no circulatory system, nutrients diffuse through the tissue.

4
ridged skin covered in tiny barbs provide the hands and feet with extra grip for climbing.

5
after pollination, flizzards lay up to three 'eggs' - strong shelled, smooth, and filled with a substance similar to coconut milk to feed the growing sapling. when hatching, the shell peels away from the weak point at the top.

6
blood and other bodily fluids are sap-like, and share pigmentation with the flizzard's blooms.

if anyone would be interested please lmk! i think i'll have a lot of fun designing these guys. i'd also love to hear ideas and suggestions! will maybe make a couple illustrations of their behavior later.
