DAY 10 OF OC-TOBER: Antonio Romero

Being here in Celestia, Antonio got to meet some pretty incredible people: Merci, Colby and Lana, and welcomed them all into his heart. To fall in love with places such as Los Diablos beach, and the smell of sea salt, or under the bridge of Santa Rosa river, where memories and songs were made. To find another big brother in Cris and to take Jamie under his wing. He can see a future being made here. With a family of his own. His rock star career being a slim possibility but still a possibility nonetheless.

And yet, his heart, despite how full it is, still aches. He misses his home country. He misses family members he hasn’t seen in years. He wants to meet new faces and say goodbye to old ones. He wants to celebrate holidays there and to feel that big family presence that gave him comfort. Most of all, Antonio misses what it could be, without the fear, the violence, and all the hate, and be with loved ones in a safe environment. Where he and his family never had to leave in the first place.

He hopes to go back one day. Back to Lunapais, and see the moon up in the night sky there again. It’s been ten years.
