Aurora Borealis by Rackiera

Aurora Borealis

Rackiera

First bigger piece of personal art in a very, very long time, really. Last time I spent more than a few hours on a picture of my own sona was... what? September 13th, 2015, with the render 'Moonflight'. Geeze, was that really a year ago?

(Also literally big - this is 5000px wide. I originally planned this to be a group picture but got inspiration elsewhere)

Anyway, I've always, always, always loved the auroras. They're just so beautiful and magical. My previous attempts are drawing them have ended in kinda... failure. xD I remember trying to draw them for an old piece and failing horribly. Anyway, the auroras will always have a place in my heart and I really hope I can see them in person one day. <3 But for now, I can envision them in my art!

Lots of practice here, also. Lighting, color, as usual, but also a bit of anatomy with help from Scaleeth! <3 (Ty!) She helped me adjust the head, neck, and shoulders/legs when they were bothering me in the sketch phase. I also googled a lot more references of mountains to make this range look more realistic, if a liiiiittle overdone!

Anyway, for once, I'm really satisfied with the end result of a picture! Took me all day today and a long time yesterday. ^^
