I mean...by all intents and purposes it kinda IS a "real lightsaber," even if the technology behind its construction is slightly different. Also "packs a punch" doesn't really sound like the best descriptor. Maybe something like "It can still slice through most materials without much difficulty."

I hesitate to call it too close to a real lightsaber since those can slice through basically anything except for beskar (which doesn't exist in this world), and I don't wanna make it too OP since the Pokemon world has different kinda "magic" stuff to consider into the power scaling, but I guess changing it to "slicing most materials" still works within that power balancing, so sure, I'll change it to that lol

Ace could say "The plasma blade can get to almost 5000 degrees Celsius, about as hot as a high-powered welding torch." Also this is a world where creatures can already melt rocks, open up fissures in the ground, cause earthquakes, tsunamis and hurricanes, summon actual lightning from the sky and telekinetically hurl boulders and other massive objects around. If anything a Lightsaber in the Pokémon world would be UNDER-powered.

Oh no no, that's not what I mean, I'm talking more about like, defensive stuff, like Protect shields and all that, as well as certain hyper-defensive Pokemon - Like, I can't remember which specific Pokemon fell into this particular description (I think maybe some of Regirock/Registeel's dex descriptions and a few others), but some Pokemon are meant to be made of like, near-impenetrable material, so I don't wanna make it seem like his lightsaber could cut through a Protect or cut through those specific type of Pokemon, y'know? (Not that Ace would try to murder Registeel or something lmao, but I have some structures in season 2 that are made out of replicant material that I don't want people to go "why doesn't Ace just cut it down lol" or something like that XD)

Also some Fire, Dragon and Ground types can literally take a BATH in LAVA. Magcargo is MADE of lava far hotter than Ace's lightsaber.
And while lightsabers CAN melt through steel and rock, if the wall or door is thick enough it takes a long time to get through it, making it really a really inefficient way to try and break into or out of certain places with it. https://youtu.be/3RCYs0N5Wsc?t=110

Everyone always points to that clip of Qui Gon plunging his lightsaber blade right into that multi-layered blast door as proof of lightsabers being overpowered (which in terms of pure scientific accuracy, they are), but they forget that once those extra layers of steel close around the entrance, Qui Gon stops trying to CUT his way through and instead just tries to heat up the door until it melts. If he and Obi Wan weren't forced to flee by those Droideka's showing up (their own shields are strong enough to deflect lightsabers by the way, hence why they had to retreat), it would have probably taken them an HOUR to melt a big enough hole in all that to step through.
