scorch marks

The old building still stands tall, but it looked far worse than 'abandoned'. Scorch marks liter the concrete walls, along with dead vines, looking just as scorched. The windows are just holes in the walls, glass no where to be seen from the outside. There are no doors leading to the interior, just one rectangle, beckoning for one to lose itself inside. Rather ominous shadows loom just inside the holes, waiting.

Upon entering the building, the stench of death suddenly becomes overwhelming. Rotting corpses liter the floor, giving signs that whatever had happened took place not too long ago. Death and decay rule, the inside of the building giving way. The scorch marks are becoming more frequent. The eerie silence that settles over the vistor suddenly becomes more and more obvious as they walk through the building, reaching the staircase. Glancing around, the visitor doesn't notice all the eyes staring at them, but still feels watched. The corpses of children twitched, unbeknownst to the visitor. Scorch marks were everywhere, covering the floors, the walls, the ceiling; the fire had started near the staircase.

Climbing the staircase, the stairs creak and moan under the new pressure, obviously unused for a time. The sounds cause more of the so-called corpses to awaken, but none get up from their death positions. The lone set of footsteps are the only thing heard. Reaching the second floor, the visitor decides to take a look around. Walking to where a door once was, they lean in to look at the room. The bodies are far worse than those on the first floor. Mutilated, burnt, some tied to beds and the walls, some in straight jackets. An insane asylum is what you, the visitor, are treading in. The building is much more than that, though. But you are blind to this fact.

Deciding that looking at the poor corpses wasn't good for your mental health, you tread back downstairs to leave. As you reach the door - was that even there before? - you hear 'Excuse me, but where are you going?'

Horrified, you turn around to look one of the corpses - no, not a corpse, but a human being - in the eye. 'You need permission to leave.'

based off of the prompt: 'Scorch marks against concrete were the only evidence that people had ever been there.'

I think this is 13+ because of the little 'corpses' and insane asylum thing aha-
