The short explanation of this is that I was heavily inspired by a lovely piece done by the very kind stofu. That piece can be viewed here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11649459/

The long explanation is this: arrows and flower crowns are two visual and conceptual elements that I really, really enjoy in artwork, and both mean a lot to me symbolically. I've always been drawn to Greek mythology and its themes and how it presents itself, and the interest becomes renewed every so often when there's something else I get interested in that relates to it. Most of my tattoos are based in Greek myths, and most of the ones I'd like to get in the future are, as well. I feel empowered and inspired by Amazons and like to think of myself as one.

My mom was really into Renaissance festivals and that sort of fancy when she was alive, and as a result, practiced things like archery and horseback riding when she could. I've always wanted to try my hand at archery and recently discovered some local opportunities for pursuing it as a hobby, and I'm really excited about them. I'm also a Sagittarius (the archer//centaur) and born in the year of the Horse, so there's that.

As far as flower crowns go - they're very visually appealing, and my mother taught me to make them when I was very young. I'm really pleased they've been so popular in artwork as of late, because much of my youth was spent wearing white daisy flower crowns. White daisies are my favourite flowers, and were my mother's favourite. In general I love how delicate and beautiful flower crowns are, and they combine two of my favourite elements (crowns and flowers, of course. both of which pop up a lot separately in my artwork).

Basically, both remind me of my mother, and connect to heavy interests of mine, but are also symbolically very interesting, especially when put together.

So, after seeing the piece by stofu, I felt inspired and felt the urge to draw something branching off of the idea. Big thanks to Stofu for being such a sweetheart about it! <3 Again, Stofu's piece that inspired this can be viewed by clicking the link below. I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you like this at all, and checking out Stofu's artwork in general, which is a real treat to look at.
