The parts of the design that were changed were his clothes, now a lack of them. Because he doesn't have a tailor anymore, and can't spend the time it'll take to travel to a city to find one. Pavati does, though. All the time in the world.

Secondly, Thalael has a new necklace. It's a leopard-tooth necklace he got form Netis when she killed one and took the teeth as a prize. Back before she was driven out of her tribe for necromancy. Thalael couldn't kill a leopard on his own. But the rest of why she gave it to him aside from him being a former friend is explained not too far into the comic.

Next, I don't know how many people have heard me describe the Sight(one of the two abilities Thalael was born with)as a web of threads all branching off at different choices everyone could make, and all those threads twining together to form the past. Well, that's what those threads are there for. Having the Sight sucks if you don't use it right.
