Well, this is how it all begins. Every puppet I make begins with the mouth plate, and this is my preferred method. I cut the bases from closed-cell foam, wrapped them in felt for the inside of the mouth, and added t-shirt cotton on the other side where my hand goes. I also installed elastic straps for my fingers and a circular grip on the upper mouth for comfort.
