.... And there he lay, quiet and happy with a full tummy as he snuggled into her bosom, she felt her newborn son was content and began her relax her body, letting herself sink into the buttery softness of her bed.
But just as soon as the strain of the day's events began to consume her, she heard small mewls and whimpers of a rather upset little one. She could feel her son patting around on her breast as if he were searching for something as she felt his little nails barely scratch her skin, "Humph. Oh child, what troubles you?" she asked him as she placed her balled up hand close to him and he was quick to find it.
He became silent as he found her fist and began to relax happy to find a comforting hand near by, she smiled as she rubbed the palm of his hand with her thumb.
'My little prince, your world is so dark and you just wanted a hand to hold. Didn't you?' she whispered placing a kiss on his head, 'I'll stay with you my beloved.'
The baby calmed nuzzling himself back into his spot in his mother's bosom and so too did his mother as she slipped back into a doze eventually falling asleep.
...

Had to make some tough calls with the shading though and yes his hair is sort of similar to an easter egg but I took the approach that babies and young children USUALLY have light hair, not all the time but sometimes, but still I like how this turned out and I don't think I could be happier.
If I could fix one thing it's the background, as I was writing out the story I had the idea of the mother wrapping her wings around her and her son, and frankly I think that would make for a better background then the plain color I put ...And fix the line art of the mother's breasts, uuugg

But oh well, I hope you guys like this one regardless of my screw ups >.<

You are hitting the nail on the head, I mentioned this in a journal but I do wanna try to draw more people in difference poses not just head shots n what not, I've been doing head shots and pictures of people just standing in the middle of the page for YEARS and lately it's been annoy the mess outta me!! >.< I want my art to look more, like it's gonna come to life off of the page, ya know? Hopefully I can find a way to come into my own at some point, I dunno. With the way I've been lately it might hit me somewhere along the lines lol
Really? I didn't use a tutorial for this, I mean looked at references for the baby's face, but other then that this was all out of my head. And I do want to do more with my shading, like I mentioned I had to make a sort of tough call with that, maybe I need to work on my lighting xP
Really all I did was add a different layer, put it on multiply, picked a color n dumped with the paint bucket and went from there with the eraser. Nothing special ^^;

ah, well congratz on othe shading then! its urs to cliam, maybe other ppl are copieing you then XD and yeah i hear ya, i used to do the same thing, drawing the same ol cat aka Mew (Pink kitty version) always looking at one direction with little to no background) i feel safer doing horses instead of cats,first its gunna be Mastery of horrses, dogs/wolves,

For some reason, i keep getting the idea that you, as an artist, want to do more with your shading adn body postures, this seems like a tutorial from someone else, like its not u but its u trying to come out. However you do happen to paint a pretty picture of an heart warming moment between mother and son, with his relaxed face and the mothers hand holding his. I just keep getting the feeling you want to do more with your shading instead of just hues and what not, like, you want to mix colors togeather to get that natural look =) but this is just me. and hey its better shading t hen mine on a graphic program. so kudos to you =D
