Lava Dog Species

PastelRaccoon

I have decided that they are a "semi-closed" species. As in if you would like one, please consult me. I wont be charging money for them at the time being. If at all. However, if you're interested in them, I'd still love to know uwu

You may have unlimited common traits, three uncommon traits, two rare traits, and two extremely rare traits! [You may have two extremely rare traits only because of how many options are available in that section]

Biography:
Lava Dogs are known to live and thrive around volcanoes both active and dormant. They are known to have rather surprising bursts of anger and hostility, so take caution when approaching them for the first time. Despite having internal temperatures ranging from 1,300 – 2,200 degrees Fahrenheit [Or 700 – 1,200 degrees Celsius], they are only extremely warm to the touch unless wounded; then the heat of their body will escape. An average pack size ranges from five to ten, but they have been known to either have larger or smaller groups.
Their usual diet consists of rodents, low flying or wounded birds, birds nested on their volcano, and are occasionally seen hunting reptiles. Those that rarely enjoy the water also seem to hunt fish.

Common Traits Information:
Short/Medium Length Fur | Large Ears | Long Tails | Tail Materials- They are most commonly made up of lava | Dark red or grey of varying degrees of color for their fur | Light gray eyes | Back Materials- Lava Dogs often have debris on their back that builds up over time. This debris can grow or shrink over time, depending on the Dog’s activity. The most common debris on the Dog’s back is ash.

Uncommon Traits Information:
Tail Materials- Uncommon materials that their tails are made of are when the lava has cooled and has become black and cracked, still showing a bit of lava glowing beneath its surface. As well, there have also been cases of it being compiled of just plain ash | Small Ears | Grey main color with varying markings of black fur | Deep gold eyes | Growths- Lava Dogs are sometimes seen with growths most commonly on their backs. These range between a few different types of minerals and volcanic glass | Growth Areas- They are usually seen on a Dog’s back but can also be on their neck, head, and hind legs. Extremely rarely do they grow from their tails | Growth Material [Common]- Rhyolite. This common volcanic stone is usually a tan or light red in color. They can also be commonly seen with pumice. Like its tail counterpart, those with pumice growths seem to enjoy swimming and the rain | Growth Material [Uncommon]- Uncommon growth materials would include colorless or clear Quartz. With quartz growths, they can vary greatly in size; usually the larger the prism, the older or stronger the Lava Dog.

Rare Traits Information:
Floppy/Folded Ears | Short Tails | Tail Materials- Rare materials that the tail has been known to be made up of would be pumice. This lightweight, porous stone actually helps the Lava Dog to swim. Those with this trait actually enjoy swimming and the rain. As well, the tail can still move as if it was made of the lava or ash | Red base coat and grey markings. Another rare combination are ones with a grey base coat with red markings instead | Deep blue eyes- Lava Dogs with these eyes often also have pumice tails and/or growths due to often being around water | Chest Tufts- On occasion, Lava Dogs are seen having small tufts on their chests. It usually consists of not hair, but either a small patch of lava or ash | Tail Growths [See other Sections for materials available] | Growth Material [Rare]- Rare growth materials include Rose Quartz and other colored Quartz such as Amethyst. With quartz growths, they can vary greatly in size; usually the larger the prism, the older or stronger the Lava Dog | Back Materials [ Rare]- Lava Dogs often have debris on their back that builds up over time. This debris can grow or shrink over time, depending on the Dog’s activity. A rare debris on the Dog’s back is Pele’s Hair.

Extremely Rare Traits Information:
Long Fur | Curled Tails | Tail Materials- Obsidian. The tail can still move as if it was still made of lava or ash, however, the tail is now extremely fragile. It is not uncommon to see ones with this magnificent tail to have a piece broken off, missing the tip, or even more. The most common obsidian seen was a simple black, but there have been cases of more rare obsidian such as rainbow obsidian | Solid black, red with black markings, and black with red markings fur | Solid red eyes- As well, it is rather rare to see any of the previously mentioned colors, including red, to be glowing | Growth Material [Extremely Rare]- Labradorite, obsidian. Like the obsidian tail, they can be rarer types like rainbow obsidian; they are also fragile and it’s rare to see them all the same and unbroken. Lastly, very rare instances can have diamond growths. They never seem to grow into spikes | Back Materials- Lava Dogs often have debris on their back that builds up over time. This debris can grow or shrink over time, depending on the Dog’s activity. Extremely rare debris on the Dog’s back is layered scales of Limu O Pele.
