uwu was a robot built to work as a sort of security camera for a robotics company.
Many people in the company felt it was an unnecessary money sink but the idea got passed and a prototype began production.
I few people found its design unsettling but most people found it adorable.
After several weeks of fixing kinks and adjusting programming the Universal Watcher Unit was released on a test around the facility. It worked perfectly fine until one of the programmers brought their 6 year old to work, uwu watched the child closely and something sparked inside its programming, it gradually started displaying actions that its original programming didn't have. It began making small sounds similar to its acronym and showing signs of curiosity.
The programmers began testing the Watcher Unit and realized it had developed some form of sentience.
