A comic cover I drew for the movie Spaceballs. My cover is vaguely based on an old Star Wars comic cover, which is fitting because Spaceballs is a parody movie of Star Wars/70-80s sci-fi movies. The idea/assignment was to make a prop that would fit in a Mel Brooks movie, so I ended up watching Spaceballs since I know a bit about Star Wars - they have this whole part of the movie where theres merch for the movie in the movie so this would be something in the Spaceballs giftshop in the movie haha
You totally won’t understand what’s going on here unless you’ve seen the movie, but I decided to do this scene because I really really wanted to draw the robot lady Dot aha. Here's a link to the scene this references: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=342HytXaoL4
I did this all on my cintiq companion except for the initial sketch, which I scanned in. I probably spent 8 hours on this from start to finish, including research and all.
