A black and white commission for Slaton on FA. It feels like ages since the last time I did full on black and white crosshatching. Glad I still got the knack for light and shadows.

This is commission-vent art with his character. He told me how he feels with lack of friends and feeling rejected mixed with feeling alone and cold. He looks out a window where a cold rain storm hits the glass repeatedly, the only light source in his cold and dark apartment is from the window near his table. He watches the rain drops sliding down the glass as the sky turns darker and colder, the storm becoming heavier and stronger. Even though with the growing coldness of his apartment hitting against his bare skin, he has no desire and motivation to go and put the heat on or warm himself up in a sweatshirt. He remains still in his chair, his eyes focused on the falling rain, his mind swimming in depressed thoughts. The only object on his small table is his cup of tea, now as cold as the rain falling outside.

Thats what was going through my head as I was drawing this image. With winter approaching in Canada, and with barely any heat in the kitchen, I used the coldness of the room to help me get the feeling of this image.
