Life's A Chibi: An Artist's Mirror (critique requested)

o-kemono

While drawing this, I had many different meanings running through my head about this piece:

  • How you feel
  • Frustration
  • Envy / Jealousy
  • Art Block

While drawing this, I was feeling all of the above, so I was a bit torn on the whole meaning of this image. I decided to go with "How You Feel".

What you draw is a reflection of who you are as an artist, whether its for a commission or for yourself. When you feel confident about yourself, or if you are in a good mood and one with yourself, you create images, music and poetry based on how you feel. It turns out positive and vibrant.

When you feel terrible about yourself, hate yourself, depressed, miserable, etc, at that moment, you create something that reflects on those emotions. Even if you are happy and go lucky on the outside, you will still draw something sad and morbid in the end.

Your canvas is a mirror on how you feel. if you want to create wonderful pieces of work, you must be comfortable and confident about yourself.

This piece was also inspired by one of Charles Schulz Peanuts strips, dealing with a similar situation.
