Lili the Alpaca (Old Art)

An updated version of a character I didn't post here because I'm honestly not happy with how it turned out.

I decided that, rather than just make new characters when i see something I'd like to use as an element of a character (as i've been doing), instead I'm going to try to just add that trait to an existing one. Lili is the first example of this: she was originally conceived as a student of magic specializing in earth elementalism. Since i like the idea of martial arts and fighting style stances being used for spellcasting, I've included her in my goal of associating lesser-known martial arts with my characters. This meant changing her ancestry: Lili is now Bolivian instead of Argentinian, and her spellcasting style draws on the increasingly famous cholita luchadoras of El Alto. The little sketches on the side show her casting a couple combative spells: making a sharp peak of stone rise from the earth, and manifesting a ball of clay as a projectile.

Seriously, fighting games have already started to respect lucha libre as a martial art, and Bolivia is one of the few places I know of where the iconic national dress is actually worn by grapplers. I left off the usual gorgeous shawl that Bolivian women often wear, but I couldn't resist including that hat and the fact that these women wrestle in ankle-length skirts.
