A mix of "because I felt like it," and art practice. I tried a more sketchy approach to laying things out, basically "filling out" the general shape of what I wanted with rough scribbles before putting an outline around them; a quickie version of what I've seen some other artists do, albeit traditionally where they do it digitally. It worked out pretty well, I think. Anatomy needs work, but I managed to pull off a pretty good sketch, an angled view of the head instead of yet another profile shot... this is what progress looks like, yes?
