My headcanon for this scene is that for some amount of time, the girls (aged 10-12) received separate tutelage to hone their fire magic, and this is the first time they've gotten together since.

Rocy (left), being the arrogant egotist she is, wastes no time in showing off to her long-time "rival", straining to make the biggest flames she can. Mela (right) seems genuinely impressed, but knows when her friend is due some humble pie. To Rocy's utter shock, it turns out Mela has "earned" Fi's Blessing(!), a uniquely rare(!) ability allowing her fire to burn at far higher temperatures, and to flow like liquid. Worse still, she seems to have no trouble demonstrating the characteristic blue flame.

Is this properly canon? Who knows. It's way easier to just say shit's true than to actually make it that way.
