Really, just don't go jumping on cats.
If you wish to befriend them, be polite and no physical contact unless they say so.

Also, do not sneak your way into their home and make residence there.

i am really not a fan of the cartoon cat and mouse gags.
i actually HATE tom and Jerry for that, and all cartoons like the sort.
