Sylvan's Rebirth: Epilogue by NightWolfRose

Sylvan's Rebirth: Epilogue

As her physical condition improved, Sylvan proved to be an eager student, soaking up knowledge like a thirsty desert plant. Even before she'd learned to read and write, she had mastered several novice spells and moved on to more advanced magick. Having grown up mostly on the streets, Sylvan had never had the opportunity to learn anything that wasn't absolutely necessary for survival, so she was eager to make up for lost time. Corvus enjoyed having such a bright, ambitious student and was happy to teach her everything she wanted to learn.

Once she learned to read, she spent a great deal of time both studying and reading for pleasure. When she was just struggling to survive, Sylvan never thought she would ever enjoy sitting under a tree with a musty old tome in her hands, reading in the green, leaf-filtered sunlight, but she did, spending countless sunny afternoons beneath her favorite willow tree. Histories, legends, folk tales, books on magickal and alchemical theory: she devoured them all, always hungry for more knowledge.

Years passed and Sylvan's command of magick surpassed that of many of the mages, wizards, and other sorcerers Corvus had introduced her to during her training. Her natural talent and power combined with the sharpness of her mind and willingness to learn gave her all of the tools she needed to become one of the most powerful sorceresses in the land, and Corvus was happy to help her achieve that goal.

After nearly a fifty years under his tutelage, Sylvan was struck with a powerful wanderlust and spent some years traveling, seeing what there was to see, exploring old ruins and sites of magickal power, returning to Corvus' manor every few months to tell her friend and mentor about the wondrous things she had seen and experienced. So compelling were her adventures that Corvus would sometimes accompany her, her excitement reinvigorating him and reminding him of his own youthful adventures centuries before.

But those are tales for another time...
