Gama was supposed to be a raven, but sort of looks like a guay from the Legend of Zelda series... so I gave him a name that sort of rhymes with guay.
This was the first time I have ever created an art doll with articulated wool felt wings. It was pretty much a success, I think... though I didn't include any of the pictures that showed him with his wings tucked away on his back. :/ His wings were painted with glossy varnish mixed with blue and purple Pearl Ex... it looks really shiney IRL, and the pics don't do justice! I am keeping him as my own because I like him too much (and feel like I could do better). Now he sits above my sculpting area, silently judging me. ;)
Gama is a "prototype" of a new style/method I'm working on.
Poseable neck or head and wings... but the rest is sculpted. I honestly like doing this type of art doll rather than the traditional way... I get to sculpt more and sew less. I love sculpting and don't really like sewing... hehe!
I think I'll be calling this type of art doll a "peblet" because... well, they have these awesomely smooth and round river rocks in their bellies as weights. They could be used as a paperweight or something!
