The original concept for this story I wrote years ago, and had as a fragment sitting around on my hard drive. I later went ahead and fleshed it out into a complete story. This is one of my shorter pieces. I originally posted this online two years ago.

This is one of my shorter works, but I think it offers a lot in a little package. Not all good stories have to be very long.

Good microstory, well told. Clearly there is more that could be said about the characters and the situation, but there's enough here to stir empathy and comprehension.
