A lament is a feeling of sadness or grief put into a song. Ninetails is a geisha, and her last day of freedom is almost up before she goes back to the closed doors of the okiya. She wishes to spend her last night enjoying the cherry blossom season, and she does this by playing her Koto, not because she was paid to, but for once, because she wants to. Her fingers dance across the instrument as millions of petals flow around her in the midnight breeze. There are no other sounds, but the swaying branches of the trees, the mournful strums of the koto, and her soft grieving voice that carries far into the mountains. One last glimps of the moon as a free woman, one last strum of her own tune, this is ninetails' cherry blossom lament.
