After his regular nightmare and breakfast, William performs a few errands for Ara using his new semi-freedom. After lunch, he meets a warrior who knows him and Ara. The warrior invites William to accompany him on a walk, visiting Zo-Joola's fruit and vegetable booth where he purchases some Nakooja fruits. They start walking the perimeter of Talo-Vy in an attempt to determine the length of time it would take to complete the moat. When he returns home, Ara gives William the third degree concerning his day's activity with the new warrior, whose name turns out to be Lo-Katoo. William also makes a startling discovery concerning Rora and his ancestry, a discovery he promises to keep secret.
