Hi! Who are you? by MoA

Hi! Who are you?

MoA

Aruka ran up the hill, towards the distant music. He ran in zigzag, made a somersault uphills, overall didn't move very straight but forward nevertheless, and smiled all the time if nothing else, just by the happiness of being alive. He reached the lonely tree on the hillside and sat down beside the flute player. He was a young boy as well. He continued playing still a little while until he noticed Aruka's presence.
"Hi! Who are you? I'm Aruka. Ya play that flute nicely", Aruka said while standing half-way up and peeking another boy from between his legs. Then he made another somersault.
"Uh, I-"
"Look, a frog!", Aruka interrupted, chased a blue frog until it escaped in between rocks, ran back and sat down and smiled. "Ya've nice crest, I've never seen so red before!"
"I am-" another boy started again.
"Butterfly!", Aruka shouted, jumped up and ran after so said insect. Red crested boy tilted his head a bit, looking after Aruka who stumbled over a rock, stood up, ran around the tree and once again sat beside him. Aruka's clothes were slightly frayed and dirty, his skin was covered in dirt. It was clear that this was not the first time he ran around aimlessly, enjoying the close touch to the ground. But still he smiled that authentic smile.
"I'm Rainer", red-crested boy said fast, before Aruka noticed something interesting again.
"Hi Rainer! Do ya like apples? Let's go get apples!", Aruka said, stood up and started running away. Rainer blinked and looked after him. "Raineeer! Come on!", Aruka waved.
However, convincing an eight-year old is not too hard. Rainer stood up and ran after younger boy.

My two dravene characters when they met. Skip 19 years and they look something like this. Sometimes meeting somebody first time is not very dramatic.
Some things just never change. Rainer is still calm, likes blue colour and is clearly taller than Aruka, who now can focus on things better, but has still his extrovert personality and doesn't change his clothes too often.

¤ Pencil, aquarels.

(Dravenes are my species.)
