I wasn’t going to play Scarlet/Violet, in fact I played them several months after its release, they just didn’t seem interesting, as all the Pokémon main games released for the Switch. But like previous games I decided to give it a try, the game overall is just what I expected and most characters are, let’s say, bland, except Arven, he is the only character I liked just because it’s the only well-written character in the game, you can empathize with him, he feels human, and that’s what makes him better than Nemona or Penny, whom sadly, were awfully written in comparison. (His character was inspired by the Game Director’s life so that explains lol)

Anyway, the fact that I actually liked him was interesting, I only preferred some characters over others on previous, Switch, releases (Piers and Marnie from Sw/Sh, Volo and Cogita from PLA) but they lacked many things writing-wise and character-wise that could make them good (To be fair, Volo and Cogita are just genderbend Cynthia and Cynthia with white hair, so I guess it was obvious I’d end up preferring them, given the fact that I like Cynthia a lot lol, so I guess they don’t count xD)

It's also interesting that I wanted to draw him lol, he has a good design probably the best in the game. On the other hand, I’m not the biggest fan of Mabosstiff’s design or any of the dog Pokémon of Paldea (They did add too many this time around), but it was his Pokémon and the audience starts empathizing with him way before knowing about his past and family because of that, so adding it was a must ^w^
(I did play the DLC, both parts, and Carmine was the one I preferred the most, still not as good as Arven -character-wise- but way better than Nemona/Penny.)

As for the thief (Haha xD) I liked Pawmot’s design when I first saw it, I know I said that the only Paldean Pokemon that I like is Chien-Pao and is still is, and the reason is simple: even though I like Pawmot I already liked another Pokemon that looked way too similar to it: Raichu, so the fact that I still like Chien-Pao as the only one still stands, its design is unique compared to Pawmot’s.

The flower Mabosstiff has on its mouth is a Lily, in honor of Lillie, from Pokémon Sun/Moon (There’s no USUM in Ba sing se lol), who still is one of my favorite characters in the franchise. Arven’s story reminded me a lot of hers and her brother’s story, because… dysfunctional family and also both are well-written characters haha x3

I did a some research for the drawing, from tablecloths to ingredients and such, wanted it to look like the game, also had to draw the tablecloth design from scratch because the actual size of this pic is too big to use anything that comes from the game xD

I decided to keep Arven’s design from Violet even though I played Scarlet (Reason: Paradox forms for primitive Pokémon species look way better and are more creative than their futuristic counterparts, I may also be biased because I played Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West and the machine designs on those games are way too good, Paradox Pokémon are too “boring” in comparison xD) because Violet’s uniform looks better on him, color-wise ^w^
