So, I totally lied.
I took a good look at my design for Vorpal's face and found it wanting. The thing with the whole Cheshire Cat grin is that if you really go for the Joker route with the grin, it turns too cartoony or too alienating and weird. Granted, if Vorpal were a villain, treating his anatomy like rubber would help in making him creepy-
Buuuut Vorp's the protagonist, not the antagonist, and I want readers to want to follow his stories, not make them go "Holy shit he creeps me out!"
That meant getting rid of the larger, more catlike eyes because of the potential for the thousand-yard-stare there.
So I took a look at Draper-Ivey's wonderful rendition of Vorpal and saw how he struck a great balance with the face, so I decided to go for that instead. First step towards finally getting a final look for Grinners and Losers.
Character reference sheet up next, woot!
