The Sisalian Race

The Sisalian Race is composed of tree dwelling people that live on the top of flat cut trees that are the size of cities. The entire race of people are brightly colored and are exotic like exotic reptiles in the jungles.  Their markings are painted on as henna tattoos from a worm’s milk. (The Worms are like dogs to the people and are treated as house-pets and are as big as a Jack Russel terrier when full grown) The milk effects the pigmentation of the skin and produces a glowing effect the first few days until it starts fading away after a months time. They are very expressive with their markings and wear them as though we wear patterns on T-shirts. If they don’t have markings they are labeled as an outcast who doesn’t value creativity or life. (IE an Emo).  Black ink on skin indicates that you are mourning a lost loved one.

The pigmentation however NEVER makes their skin purple. as that is saved for special occasions where they go out to hunt a beetle and create a paste that stains the skin for 6 months. It is a marriage proposal to use the purple beetle ink. When someone proposes, their index finger is dunked in the ink, and if she refuses, he is stuck with the ink on his finger for 6 months. And He has to walk around with the shame. It is a social event to get married, it means expressing it to everyone that you ARE going to.

The planet is an intergalactic hub of trade and they are a people who didn’t have time to evolve into the state of mind to travel, they were introduced to aliens on their planet and they worked out a deal that anyone could use their world for a hub, if they were willing to share the goods, technology, and information with them. The Trade depots however are taken over by crime-lords not too unlike our mafia of the 1920’s.

Kassidy’s father, Lawrence McFoley, is currently one of the most powerful crime-lord’s that regulate trade, however he is the most peaceful than the others, as he tends to treat himself as a merciful figure to most, but a tyrant when you cross him.  Kassidy doesn’t follow his rule and instead travels off world. This isn’t uncommon for young idealistic Sisalian’s who want to learn more about the galaxy. But others sometimes love the world they live on. 

Most of the people live on top of these large gigantic trees like people from the Jetsons. Where as people who live on the surface are usually farmers. Think of the city is higher up, and the country is the surface.
