Remember how we had eggs?

They're fluffy great horned owl babies now. A volunteer was in and took some photos of feeding time.
I'm the not cute fluffy thing.
That mass of fuzz is 2 of the 3 owls, the bottom picture my hand is reaching to the other one who hatched this morning and isn't much interested in noms quite yet.

They will be returned to the wild when they grow up.

I fed him/her again in the afternoon and he was more excited. It's normal to be "ho hum food" for them the first day since they are still full from the yolk they had in the egg.

I'm a momma bird. This is my favorite thing about my job and worth all the pain, death, anger and hurt.

I know the feeling. I have never had the chance to work with birds to this level though. I'm actually going to start working at a raptor rescue nearby. I hope to eventually help their babies too. <3

Nice, we always start people off doing the grunt work/rodent care and they work up to certain things. There's only 3 of us who actually can care for babies and we all are licensed rehabilitators.

That is incredible. As long as I am assisting birds in some way, I don't care what I'm doing at the rescue. lol
