The Rorke's Drift Class Heavy Destroyer was brought into service during the worse of the fighting in the Telepath War. The class was named in honor of the E.A.S. Rorke's Drift, a Warlock Class Destroyer that fell prey to a Psi Corp ambush while en route to the colony on Orion VII. The first vessel was christened the Rorke's Drift. The second was named after Richard Chard III, the Captain of the doomed Warlock class that fell near Orion VII.
