The Stoned Ape Theory

'The Stoned Ape Theory' is a hypothesis proposed by the late American author and ethnobotanist Terence McKenna. The hypothesis suggests that the evolution of human consciousness was triggered by the consumption of psilocybin mushrooms by early hominids, which led to increased brain activity and improved cognitive abilities.

The consumption of these mushrooms was facilitated by the hominids' habit of scavenging for food in the dung of large herbivores. The hypothesis is one of several that attempt to explain how humans developed larger brains.

It is not widely accepted in the scientific community, it remains a popular topic of discussion among proponents of psychedelic culture and philosophy.

True or not, it is something I find inspiring and I love Terence McKenna's bravery to think outside the box and just embrace being a thoughtful weirdo, which is something I think or society needs. A lot of ideas that were deemed crazy were accepted later on, and if not, it is still an important exercise.

It's ok to let go of sketches but also some are meant to be worked on much later when you're ready! 😃 I hope to color it later sometime but I want to share it with some muted colors because I'm also happy with the inking as is!
