As she joined the students, the grayness inside the student labeled "J" made her stop having feelings about anything, since that wasn't necessary for her newly acquired learning purporse.
However, student K was a different case, since The Director didn't need that much color to be completed anymore, she didn't absorb all of it.
The little bit of color left inside K made her hand reach for student J and comfort her, even if J didn't seem to express the need to be comforted.
Student K was a student with the same learning purpose than the rest, but a little spark continued giving her some soft feelings inside. Maybe she could make J regain a little bit of that spark.
