Finally finished colouring this one. I really like how it came out.
Sono sempre stato accattivato dalla coppia divina di Set (anche Sutech o wedja) e Nefti (Neb-Het, Nebt-Het). Da un lato perché non abbiamo la più pallida idea di che animale dovrebbe reappresentare il dio del deserto. Dall’altro, perché perché Nefti non ha un ruolo del tutto definito, se non come compagna di altre divinità, come sua sorella Iside (Asat).
Anche il loro rapporto coniugale è ambiguo: se Nefti appare spesso come moglie di Set alle Oasi, nei miti di Osiride lei prende le parti di Iside e Horo (anche Her), contro cui combatte il dio della tempesta. Nella versione di Plutarco del mito Nefti, come dea madre, desidera ardentemente un figlio, ma il suo marito sterile non glielo può dare. Questo causa una tresca con Osiride, dalla quale nascerà il dio dei morti Anubi (Inpu) e che prterà alla separazione dei due dei delle oasi.
Set stesso ha quasi sempre connotati negativi, dato che è nemico del dio-faraone Horo, ma venivaanche venerato spesso come dio guerriero e protettore di parenti e viandanti stranieri. Nel mito del viaggio solare, lui combatte fianco a fianco con ra contro la serpe primordiale Apopi.
Il mio interesse per questi due è stato anche ridestato dalla fanfiction su Tutenstein di kenyizsu , “banished by mistake” (bbm)

I’ve always been captivated by the divine couple of Nephtys(Nebet-Het or Nebet-Hut) and Seth (Sutekh or Setekh). For one thing, we ave no clue what animal the stormgod is supposed to be. And Nephtys has no definitive role herself, but rather couples with different deities to asssist them, like her sister Isis (Asat).
Their marriage is also quite ambiguous: while Nephtys is Seth’s wife in Oases, in the Osiris myths she sides with Isis and Horus (Heru), who fight against the desert god. In Plutarch’s version of the tale Nephtys, as a mother goddess, wishes to have a child, but her sterile husband cannot provide her with one. This brings about an affaire with Osiris, from which the underworld god Anubis (Inpw) is born, which leads to the separation of the two Oasis gods.
Seth himself was oftentimes the ultimate villain of egyptian mythology, as the sworn enemy of the pharao god Horus, but he was also worshipped as a strong wargod and a protector of relatives and foreign travellers. In the myth of the sun’s journey through the netherworld, he fight side by side with Ra against the primordial serpent Apep.

Das Götterpaar von Seth (Sutech oder Setech) und Nephthys (Neb-Hut, Nebet-Hut) hat mich immer fasziniert. Zum einem, da wir keine Ahnung haben, was das Settier, die Tiergestalt des Wüstengottes, sein soll. Zum anderen, da Nephthys keine vollkommen klare Rolle in der Mythologie hatte und immer andere Gottheiten, wie ihree Schwester Isis (Asat) unterstützte.
Auch ihre eheliche Beziehung ist undeutlich: Nephthys ist zwar oft and den Oasen die Frau des Seth, jedoch steht sie in den Osirismythen auf Isis and Horus Seite, die der Sturmgott bekämpft. In Plutarchs Version der Sage wünscht sich Nephthys, als Muttergöttin, ein Kind, kann aber keines von ihrem unfruchtbaren Mann krigen. Das führt zu einer Affäre mit Osiris, aus der der Totengott Anubis (auch Inpu) geboren wird und die zur Trennung der zwei Oasengötter führt.
Seth selbst war zwar oft der absolute Bösewicht der Ägyptischen Mythologie, da er Feind des Pharaogottes Horus (auch Hor) war, aber auch er wurde als Kriegsgott und Schutzpatron der Verwandten und Reisenden oft angebetet. Im Sonnenmythos kämpft er an Res Seite gegen die Urschlange Apophis.
Mein Interesse für die beiden wurde auch durch kenyizsu s Tutenstein Fanfic, „Banished by Mistake“ (Bbm) wieder auferweckt.
