It just so happens that December 12, 1981, I was born under a full moon. I used to stare up at my mistress, wondering what powers she might bestow me when the time was right. I listened carefully, and got my answer when I was 13. She howls alright, and now, so do I.

So it seems like there are quite a few ways to become a werewolf: get bitten by one, be born to werewolf parents (or at least a werewolf father), get cursed, spells, and being born on the full moon. This would be quite interesting if it were real. Would the different methods produce different types of werewolves? In werewolf fiction, it seems to me that most of the good werewolves are born to werewolf parents, whereas the evil (or just plain crazy) ones become werewolves by getting bitten, getting cursed, or performing black magic.
And then there are the people who claim that werewolves are real after all... and I've seen them list all the ways I just listed as ways to become a werewolf!
