Living in the limelight can drive a band insane....

From the suburbs of Camobia...umm....I mean Canada! Yes! Canada...Comes a progressive rock act by the name Speed.

The band consists of(L-R):

Milosh "Miles/Millie" Provski: Bass, Keyboards, Pedal bass and lead vocals. Goes by the nickname "Tails".

Olgilvie Maurice Yezhik: Guitars, backup vocals. Goes the nickname "Sonic", changed his last name to Hedgehog.

Ivo Robotnik: Drums, percussion and main lyricist. Goes by the nickname "Dr. Eggman".

The band was formed initially when two sons of eastern European immigrants met at junior high in the suburbs of Toronto. Olgilvie saw bullies picking on the somewhat of an outcast Milosh because the later was born with an extremely rare twin tail deformation. Olgilvie, despite being a bit of a Jock himself stepped in and drove the bullies away, despite the incident, Olgilvie nicknamed Milosh "Tails". Olgilvie was the star of the school's track team and had a promising career as an athletic runner. Milosh saw him run once and in return nicknamed him Sonic. The two became best friends instantly and quickly started chatting together and discovered that both had love for speed, fast cars but most importantly, music and the fact that both played instruments. They decided together with school mate Eric "Knuckles" Karters on drums to form a band, the name Speed was derived from Sonic's and Tails' love for the feeling. After recording the first album Knuckles decided to quit the band due to differences in musical taste, just before they were supposed to go on their first tour.

After auditioning numerous drummers and time being against them, Sonic and Tails came across a drummer they heard play in another band. They tried to reach him but he was in the middle of completing his engineer's degree. Despite being eager to complete his degree he couldnt resist the temptation. When he finally arrived at the audition Sonic and Tails saw a tall, long haired, broad shouldered man with thick, shaded lab goggles and a lab coat(the message for the audition came in the middle of an experiment and in sheer rush he forgot to take off his lab gear. Even after packing his entire drumset into his van), sporting a thick, sprouty mustache. The two were sure he was a mad scientist or something, until he started playing the drums. The name of this man was Ivo Robotnik and he was hired on the spot.

During the tour Ivo contracted lice and was forced to get his head shaved. Upon witnessing their new drummer bald for the first time, Sonic and Tails gave Ivo the nickname "Dr. Eggman". Despite enjoying his new nickname and liking how it fit in with the rest, Ivo preferred to grow back his hair. The reason for his nickname became a myth among fans for many until the days he started going balled and decided to shave his head clean.

Despite Tails having a way above average intelligence and a great voice, he didnt have a good way with words. He and Sonic had a hard time writing lyrics until Eggman showed them a piece he was working on, inspired by one of the many books he read. The two loved the way he wrote, even if Tails claims they were a mouthful to sing. Eggman was the main lyricist of the band ever since.

And this is how it all fell into place.
