Nama'a Region starter Pokemon by Luprand

Nama'a Region starter Pokemon

Luprand

Some years ago, a friend suggested designing starter Pokemon for Utah, based on the mascots of the local colleges. Here are the first forms, at least.

Wheatsel (Grass type, Sprouted Grain Pokemon): A rambunctious and inquisitive Pokemon that loves to explore tunnels and burrows. The grass along its back can be trimmed and pressed into a nutritious juice. (Inspirations: Utah Valley University Wolverines, wheatgrass)

Chimeneyas (Fire type, Hatchery Pokemon): This sociable Pokemon gathers with others of its kind to keep each other warm with their internal fires. Some trainers teach them to lie on their backs and roast treats over their bellies. (Inspirations: University of Utah mascot - Swoop the Red-tailed Hawk, eyas - term for a baby hawk, chimenea)

Rippalkin (Water type, Frolicsome Pokemon): Its dappled coat allows it to blend into rippling bodies of water, where its buoyant tail allows it to float comfortably for hours. It loves summer squalls and will often sneak outside to play in the rain. (Inspirations: Brigham Young University Cougars, grimalkin - old term for a cat, pool noodles)

Chineneyas has the best concept, but designwise I'm really feeling Rippalkin.
