When Luca Fiori was sent to join the Bergholz Regional Calamity investigation, he expected to be little more than a glorified aid worker. Prior to working as a professor's assistant, he'd never even had a Pokemon partner in his life. With an Eevee and an alpine Growlithe by his side, Luca could see himself maybe providing warm meals and basic first aid to the people who were making the real discoveries. His traveling companions seemed to confirm this idea: a junior researcher, an obsessive bug catcher, a morose eccentric, and a pampered ChaTok influencer. At least they would be relatively safe, avoiding the front lines of whatever was going on.

He'd forgotten that ragtag groups of misfits tend to attract Destinies. Now, threads of fate lead them across the region and into the dens of villainous teams and doomsday cults alike ... the blue Deoxys egg was just the beginning.
