In July I was in the hospital with respiratory failure. I don't think I've ever been closer to death, but I survived. This is the event I needed to finally make me quit smoking. Not being able to breathe isn't fun. It's just not worth it.

Nice to see you posting art again, and glad you made it out all right! It wasn't covid, was it? Or was it something different that caused respiratory failure for you?

Oh no! I hope there aren't any lasting effects like shortness of breath or not being able to smell or taste anything, because I've seen some "long-haulers" say they're still unable to exercise months or a year because of the damage to their lungs. A friend of mine that also had covid is using a lung resistance training device called a PowerBreathe to help him get his stamina for exercise back. He told me it's working very well for him get back to where he used to be, though it's probably more for people that had less severe cases. It could be of some help in recovery, but I don't expect it to help with things like fibrosis or any other serious lung damage.
