~March, 2010.
A personal challenge; and I admit one I'm proud of. When writing music, I usually don't restrict myself to certain instruments, but start with a full orchestra, from strings to woodwinds to brass to percussion, all-inclusive. Also, it doesn't take long until I start fiddling with the big things: Horn ensembles and huge timpanis & drums just sound awesome; so why miss out on those? Kada-boom!
So, the question was: Can I write something simple? Small chamber orchestra piece, maybe? Get a flute, an oboe, some violins, violas and cellos, and that's it? Here's the result.
Did it work?

I often try to limit myself to soli instruments and strings sections. I rather prefer to compose for them because it helps not fall into the "epic orchestra" template.
But no matter what, you excell at this, and get a better , bigger and more alive sound than mine ! x3
