It is hard to tell what is really going on with this Medd

Appearance: Hollow is light grayish-brown tinged like all Medds, with a long, fluffy tail and fluffy curved ears. He wears bandages over his face, beneath which are two circular eyes filled with flickering static. Beams of light can emit from them as well. Hollow wears all black—shirt, pants, gloves, shoes and trenchcoat.

Bio: Enter the world of the future, a generation of great achievements. No longer did the public have to wait long for medical care—not with the assistance of the bio engineered Medds. All Medds were created in labs, ingrained with the extensive medical knowledge they would need to be of assistance. The Medds, named such as a very simple abbreviation of med/medic, fulfilled their role with impressive success.

However as more and more were created, their creators began to wonder what kind of ill effects this could cause. The Medds continued to wow and amaze all with their incredible precision and ability to learn and adapt. Deciding that the risk was too high in the knowledge they had, and the potential for them to eventually overthrow their creators and take over themselves, it was decided something must be done.

Operation Grave Vault was developed. A plan to recall the Medds and confine them to the small nameless planet later named Grave Vault. Grave Vault was a wasteland where unwanted garbage and dangerous chemicals etc had been dumped for years in order to keep pollution down.

At the time of the decision, a large debate broke out as to if Medds should have their own freedom or if they were more equivalent to owning a robot. No one fully understood just how much sentience a Medd had after all. Although they had performed numerous tests and evaluations, leading scientists were largely undecided about the Medds. In the end, it was decided it was still for the best to send them off, with only a small portion of the government knowing what had actually happened to the Medds.

It was assumed that they would either die from the environment or if that didn’t do it, their expiration dates would. All Medds were programmed with expiration dates where, regardless of condition, would shut down and die once the unknown day was reached.

So with that decided, the Medds were gathered up and shipped off to Grave Vault to spend the remainder of their lives. Despite the living conditions—a lot of gloom and constantly burning fires—the Medds managed okay for awhile, however it wasn’t long before their sanity began taking a very steep decline. Although mostly speculation, it is accepted now that the Medds require frequent and continual access to other sentient lifeforms for optimum sanity.

Medds’ minds work in very strange ways, and they cannot keep memories without frequent reminding pieces or articles. They eventually lost the memories as to why they were taken there and additionally their intuition of what was right and wrong became next to nonexistent. With a high drive to perform medical procedures, no work, and little to do in their new environment, things turned violent very quickly. Medd against Medd. Total chaos consumed the planet.

Scout crews are sent to Grave Vault now on a regular basis to assure that the intelligent creatures haven’t discovered something amongst all the garbage to build a means of escape from their prison planet. These scouts have never made it back alive.

Hollow. Hollow is a rather unique Medd, having the ability to intercept satellite signals to and from Earth every three or four months. This makes it a danger as far mankind is concerned, thus they have made it clear that anyone who were to find this particular Medd and end its existence would get a hefty reward...if they were to survive. The other Medds are also quite interested in this unique ability that Hollow has—some wanting it for themselves and others, at least those with any sort of remaining brain, wish for Hollow to be their leader.

Hollow, however seems to have no interest in being a leader. He also seems to have no interest in harming anyone though, nor helping them really. Like most Medds, Hollow has no memories of his own, although he has downloaded some from the scouts that he has collected and operated on in the past. Hollow often wanders the smoldering ruins they live amongst. He cannot actually see what any of it looks like through his own eyes, but he does have visuals downloaded into his brain from the intercepted satellite signals he picks up occasionally.

Hollow is rather curious of the culture he once lived amongst, granted most Medds are desperate for a little something more than what they have. Hollow may not have a fully distinctive personality, but he definitely seems more sentient than the others.

Hollow seems to be particularly curious of the act of dancing and interaction with other beings, seeing as it is something they largely do not possess beyond fighting. The few times he has tried to introduce these concepts to the others have ended…very badly.

Hollow keeps his ‘eyes’ covered by bandages to keep them a secret from a large portion of the other Medds, who would readily steal them if given half a chance. He is not aware that he is considered a higher threat than the others and thus hunted.

The Medds do not noticeably age much; they do not start out as kittens.

Grave Vault is occasionally used for military training exercises. The risks are high in doing such though, so only very highly trained units are even considered for it.

Life for a Medd currently consists of the same routines. Wander about, collect anything of interest. Wait for the scouts. When the scouts arrive, a hoard of Medds are there to meet them where they proceed to fight over the ‘fresh meat’ to operate on and steal memories from.

Hollow has tiny glimpses of something that could be considered a personality. He is curious and inquisitive. Although highly lacking in any expression of emotion, he seems to understand that different emotions exist, but has not yet discovered how to access them accurately or continually.

When still on Earth, Hollow was a doctor with extensive surgical knowledge.
