The Warrior and The Princess by LordFenrir

The Warrior and The Princess

LordFenrir

Close your eyes
Dream a dream
Show the world who you are

Be not afraid
Wipe your tears
I will always be here

Child of mine, you will see
There is always hope to be
Flowing freely through us
For all around to see

My child
You will be
Hope throughout the land

Dream your dreams
Hold your hopes
Someday soon you will show

The land holds secrets
That love will show
Follow in my footsteps
And soon you will know

Show the world
What love can be
Be the beacon you wish to see

Change the world
Show the truth
Stop the darkness in its tracks

We are all connected
That you will see
Servant girl and princess
They all are one to me

Take a step
Lead the pack
Show them the righteous path

Be a queen
Full of love
Then the world shall be yours

Don't let the fear
Keep you from your dreams
Remember I am here
My dear for all your years

Be my child
Show them all
You will be the light

A commission for Sevandah of Ros, her character in my current campaign of The Shadow of the Dog Lord Anthropomorphic Fantasy Roleplaying Game.

Born as Princess Rosabella Starflare, Ros's life was changed forever when an unknown assassin killed her mother, the Queen. The event caused her father to become neglectful, and even resentful of his daughter, who looked so much like her mother. On her 15th birthday, she is forced into a betrothal to the young Julien Silvermane, when she flees the capital and goes into hiding.

Disguised as a wolf warrior named Ros, she serves House Guilliame of Batterhold, a fortress on a barren island in the shadow of an extinct volcano. Batterhold is cold, wet, rickety, and certainly the last place anyone searching for the missing Princess would go looking.

Depicted in this picture is Ros as Rosabella the Princess, and Ros the Warrior. The text around the border is the song written above. And finally, in the panels, I have drawn various events that happened during the course of the campaign thus far that have shaped Ros into the wonderfully complex character she is:

1.) The funeral of Magnus Guilliame, her liege-lord at Batterhold.
2.) The return of the Dark Lord Fenrir Stormclaw, which brings about a great war that threatens to consume the realm in fire and ash.
3.) Ros's journey to Castle Morkai to guard her lord, Malta during the wedding between Ramsay Morkai and Juliet Silvermane. Ros suspects, without proof, that the Morkais are responsible for her mother's death.
4.) The Battle of Falcon's Pass. Ros fought against the forces of Fenrir alongside Xepher Sicarius, proving her merit in battle!
5.) The Crystal Cave. While attempting to retrieve one of the Dark Lord's phylacteries, Ros consumed a potion that forced her to relive her worst days of her life: her mother's death and the years of neglectful aftermath.
6.) The Siege of Batterhold. The party sails at once to Batterhold to find it attacked by Fenrir's navies. After repelling the first wave, the Dark Lord himself takes the field, using his powerful sorcery to rekindle the extinct volcano and obliterate Batterhold and its army. The party escapes, hollow and broken, as Ros and Remmington lost the only homes they had left.
7.) Wedding of Remus II and Julianna Silvermane. Forced to attend the wedding of her brother as Malta Guilliame's bodyguard, Ros drinks heavily after the wedding with Xepher, who figures out her secret. Ros begins to develop romantic feelings for the jackal.
8.) The Red Wedding. During the wedding between Lydia Talon and Julien Silvermane, which was forced by the king to prevent civil war between the Houses of Sicarius and Silvermane, Lord Julio reveals his treachery. Having hired an assassin to kill the King and blaming the Sicarius's, the Silvermane's slaughter most of House Sicarius and their bannerman in the wedding hall. Ros flees with Xepher (who is gravely wounded), Lydia, and Malta. Lord Xantos Sicarius, his wife, and son Xephos are killed, and the party learns that Julio is allied with Lord Fenrir. Ros also learns for certain that Lord Damian Morkai killed her mother and has been feigning his fealty to the crown all along...

Whew! I hope you enjoyed both the art and story that went with it! I'm really happy with how it came out :)
