I went to the Welcome to Night Vale live show last year and I was really impressed at all the creative cosplays and props people brought. I’m seeing the show again this April and decided I wanted something handmade Night Vale to bring with me this time, so I made this Khoshekh plushie!

It’s really something of a challenge to create fanart of something with no visual components… I’m not used to that! It’s refreshing though, cuz I can make whatever kind of design I want as long as it evokes the feeling of Night Vale. I had this wonderful scruffy, messy charcoal grey fur on a never-finished project that I thought would work really well. I designed him to be life-sized (actually a bit larger than my own cat since she’s a shrimp!) He is sooo nice to cuddle up to, I’ve been hugging him nonstop since I finished him…

The eyes, nose, pawpads, and ear detailing are done in glitter paint- doesn’t show up super well in photos, but it’s pretty in person. Made him a collar and tag out of scrap materials I had because I decided he didn’t look Night Vale-ish enough on his own.

My plan is to use fishing line to make him appear to be levitating as I carry him around at the show. :)
