THE FOREIGNERS - a team of young superheroes in Cape Town, made up entirely of people not actually from South Africa. They mostly provide cover for when other superheroes are otherwise occupied. Cape Town is just the right size so a superhero in training can get experience in the field (unlike the superhero-heavy New York City) while not having to handle more than they're cut out for.

Ashley Rathipal (Metalen Meisje): She was born in Suriname and so grew up speaking Dutch. She realized she was transgender at about the same time she began to develop superpowers (being able to generate and throw force fields). After she came up with a female superhero identity, she found reasons to spend time in it. At about 16 she moved to Curacao as part of a Dutch government exchange program, where she started going by Ashley. She spent college in the Netherlands before eventually coming to South Africa to join the team. Ashley is very competent and professional and maintains a levelheaded public persona.

Mojisola Okowe (Grenadine): Her powers are complete immunity to heat and explosions. She is very good at both building and defusing explosives. For a long time, she was the sidekick to her older sister Sunday in Lagos (Nigeria), who has the same powers, plus the ability to create fire. It's still not entirely known why she left Nigeria, but she and Sunday appear to be on good terms with each other. Mojisola is almost always smiling and is very kind to others. She and Mark are both Catholic and go to the same church.

Mark Retherford: Mark can control (limited but large) quantities of water and use them in battle. He's from the Detroit area and once spent a summer working with a cross-border superhero team based in the General Motors headquarters building. Mark tends to be insecure about himself; even though he's theoretically the most powerful member of the team, he doesn't like to think of himself that way, and doesn't want to be the leader. He wears more layers of clothing than anyone this close to the equator really should (Grenadine's immune to hot temperatures, so she's OK.)
