Nome Puppet by Literal Ghost

Nome Puppet

Literal Ghost

Hey! I had put down on my page that I sculpted, too.

This was a stop motion puppet of Nome that I had made about 3 years ago. Her body is an aluminium wire armature with foam over top of it, liquid latex for her skin and hands, sculpey firm for her head, and plumber's epoxy for her hooves. The fur was taken from a thrift store stuffed animal and colored with some leftover Manic Panic hair dye (it didn't work too well. Maybe it was because of the polyester fur, but it faded in the sun to almost white again!)

She was the first puppet I had ever made, and was actually really hard to do much of anything with. I could get a lot of expression out of her (I had made it so that her ears could animate), but when it came to walking or sitting down, it was a mess. Her head is just a solid mass of sculpey. It weighed her down and bent the wire when I tried to balance it for a walk. I also wasn't very strategic about how her tail should accommodate the rest of her body, and her legs were a bit too short.

Even so, I loved how she came out.

I'm a little out of practice, but I want to make new puppets and post them.
