Here is one of my latest two pieces:

A staff for the fictional police force known as "The Vanguard Mage Force"

They are a police force for mages and magic involved crimes on a world based loosely on our own. Magic was the prominent "science" of the world, and technology has a long way to go to catch up with our own. While the year is 2010, tech is, on a pure comparison level, roughly equal to just barely post WWII.

The staff belongs to one of my own rpg characters who begins play on the day I posted this actually, she is known as a Vanguard Savant, specializing in magic pertaining to Information and also having an eye for magic outside the norm and usually accepted types.

The mainstay is a hexagonal heartwood core of black ebony, carved with pure cold iron tools and lined with silver, capped on one end with half of a silver ball. The top has a six inch long pertly cut flawless quartz spike, also clad in pure silver. Various symbols are carved into the staff at various points as listed in the drawing.

It is also indestructible. While considered more powerful than civilian models, it is not insanely so, and is more made for massively variable energy channeling uses.
