Acrylic Paint and Gold Leaf, on Canvas Board, Summer 2020

Despite the signature saying 2023, this was actually a piece I made several years ago when the Pandemic really hit the US. I suppose the original emotion felt behind it was despair and uncertainty at the prospect of leaving people behind once again to go on lockdown, and the isolation that followed soon after. I put this piece away, but had to move it around a few times hence the tiny nicks in the gold leaf. It felt more appropriate in today's turbulent climate to post this one today, and the title reflects my feelings at the moment. I hope everyone has a happy, and safe Pride Month. Survive against the torrential waves of hate, uplift your fellows, in these dire times we need each other more than ever.
