PDDG: Forced Stealth by Leon 13

PDDG: Forced Stealth

Leon 13

Stealth in video games can be fun. It's satisfying to sneak up behind an enemy, slit his throat or knock him out, then hide his body in the shadows while simply avoiding a bunch of enemies can earn achievements. However, there are also Stealth segments that the player must do or they will fail the level. That, is the horror of the forced stealth segment. Simply getting spotted by an enemy or killing some enemies and having a survivor set off an alarm or a camera spots you. No game forces stealth upon you more often, than The Operative: No One Lives Forever. Several missions force you to avoid setting off alarms and I have only beaten like one. And since I foolishly purchased the PS2 version, I also had the luxury of playing through several flashback missions when the player was a thief and they had to avoid constables. You couldn't even knock them out! So yeah, screw Forced Stealth Segments. Make Stealth Optional.
